Patient Testimonials

My name is Cliff. In 1990 at the age of 38 I left the U.S. Navy in mid-career because I could no longer successfully perform the annual physical fitness testing due to my “bad knees” that I inherited from my Mother. Over the next 16 years my condition slowly deteriorated to nearly cripple. I could no longer care for the animals on my farm, I had long since given up on ever playing racquetball again and was just glad when I could perform a 12 hour shift as a Registered Nurse in the ICU. Having seen the way my Mother suffered with her bilateral knee replacements and having worked on the Orthopaedic wards in three states, I was very reluctant to consider total knee replacement. The procedure was essentially the same in 2000 as it was during the Vietnam War. The devices looked the same.

Then in January, 2006, I made a life changing discovery. Recently Hillcrest Medical Center and The Orthopaedic Center had brought a new technique and a leading edge Orthopaedic Surgeon to Tulsa. I was contacted by several personal friends in the Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation field saying, “You need to see this guy. His patients are recovering in half the time required by the old techniques.”

Then came the visit that would change my life. Dr. Mittal would not perform surgery on me until we had exhausted all alternatives. After an unsuccessful course of Synvisc injections and equally unsuccessful course of Hyalgen injections, we finally agreed that bilateral knee replacements was the best course of action available to me.

In April, 2006 Dr. Mittal performed my left total knee replacement using his minimal invasive, laser guided technique to install a rotating platform knee prosthesis. After six weeks of aggressive physical therapy, I returned to full duty in the ICU. By my 54th birthday in October, 2006 I had accumulated enough vacation and sick leave to have my right knee replaced. Again in six weeks I was released to return to full duty. One year after surgery I returned to my beloved game of racquetball.

It has now been two years and I am enjoying a very active lifestyle. Thank you Dr. Mittal and The Orthopaedic Center for giving me my life back.

Before knee replacement my life centered around things I could not do – take my grandchildren on a walk or play in the park with them; go dancing or shopping; or even move without pain. My life revolved around pain.

Today and everyday since knee replacement in June, 2005, my life centers around all the things I can do – and that list includes virtually anything I want to do! I no longer wake up and go to bed with pain. I have NO pain.

No pain – what a miracle and Dr. Mittal is my miracle worker! He worked patiently with me through all the stages leading up to knee surgery, recommending the most up-to-date treatments. When knee replacement was inevitable, he walked me thru the entire process and was there anytime and everytime I needed him.

Give yourself the gift of NO PAIN and contact Dr. Mittal.
